Our Story

The Barrel Room was created out of a love for beautiful spaces and meaningful gatherings.

Inspired by Humboldt’s natural textures, rich tones, and sense of community, the venue blends warmth, craftsmanship, and thoughtful design that feels both relaxed and memorable.

Led by Althea Jones, whose background in community advocacy, education, and counseling shapes a deeply people-first approach to hospitality, every corner of The Barrel Room was designed with intention—from calming getting-ready spaces to layered interiors, custom details, and thoughtful moments throughout.

Brought to life through a shared vision that combines design and craftsmanship, the venue incorporates repurposed materials and handcrafted elements, giving it its distinctive character.

With Event Coordinator Tephi Lynn Henry guiding celebrations from planning through event day, the experience feels seamless, welcoming, and genuinely personal.

Althea Jones

Director of Hospitality and Events

Althea Jones is the Director of Hospitality and Events at The Barrel Room. Drawn to the art of gathering and rooted in the rhythm of Humboldt County, she leads the venue with a belief that the best celebrations are built on the small things: a warm welcome, a space that feels considered, and a team that handles the details so you can stay present. Under her care, The Barrel Room is becoming a home for the kind of events guests remember long after the last toast.

“From start to finish, working with Althea was pleasant and stress free. The venue for the wedding was perfect and beyond what we could have imagined.”
